Paria River backpacking (3/28/10 - 3/31/10)
We started our journey on Sunday March 28, 2010 at White House Trailhead and ended our journey on Wednesday March 31, 2010 at Lees Ferry, Arizona. Looking back at this journey, it was one of the BEST backpacking trips ever! We had mostly great company (if you ignored a grumpy individual), OUTSTANDING weather and DOUBLY EXCELLENT scenery. These photos are presented in chronological order. Enjoy our journey through these photos!
I've been frequently asked "What camera did you use?" I took a Canon T1i Rebel with 2 lenses (17-40 f4, 100-400 f3.5-5.6) as well as a lightweight Manfrotto Tripod. Yes, I carried the extra weight for 4 days (probably 6 extra pounds), and it wasn't pleasant! The Paria was a harsh and dusty environment. Unfortunately, this environment injured the 17-40 lens, but the images from the trip are outstanding! Truthfully, the tripod was more useful to hang stuff than for picture taking. I think the ONLY time I used the tripod was taking the night shot under the full moon.
